Shinju Matsuri’s Golden Jubilee

Creative Canary are proud to announce we’re back on board for this years Shinju Matsuri festival. But this year isn’t just any year, it’s the fiftieth anniversary of the ‘Festival of the Pearl’.

With uncertainty surrounding international and even interstate travel, Shinju Matsuri is preparing for unprecedented interest and financial investment into Broome and the wider Kimberley region in late August and early September. This year promises to be one of the biggest festivals the North West has ever seen, where we celebrate the history of the region and diverse cultures that make it an eclectic melting pot of colour, smell, cuisine and arts. It’s the perfect excuse to travel within our beautiful state of Western Australia.

What is Shinju Matsuri?

While we pay homage to the region’s past and look back on the history of Pearling and industries that were so instrumental in defining the area, the festival is also a showcase of much of the hottest local talent currently making waves throughout the music and arts scene.

With an array of activations over 8 days there is something for everyone. Learn the local indigenous language, build your own traditional lantern to float in the moonlight of Gantheaume Point, enjoy a 5 million star dining experience on the beach at the renowned long table dinner, or choose from the seemingly endless art and musicals installations. The hardest part will be deciding what you don’t have time to see!

Creative Canary and Shinju Matsuri

To help maximise the exposure of the week long event, Creative Canary have designed and built a brand new website full of mixed-media, showcasing the proud history of the event as well as a detailed program of site activations promoting this years cultural exhibitions, entertainment, mouth watering culinary experiences and much, much more.

Alongside Shinju Matsuri’s online presence, Creative Canary like past years will also be commissioned with producing a wide range of signage, social media assets, advertising and print material including flyers and the official 50th anniversary Shinju Matsuri programme.

Love of our Community

We couldn’t be more proud of our investment into the community of Broome, which Creative Canary has been part of since 2016 and look forward to joining a raft of similar community business partners, passionate locals and an army of volunteers to make this year’s festival the biggest and most rewarding yet.

Whether you’ve been to Broome a dozen times before, looking for new destinations within our great state or just need an excuse to getaway there’s never been a better time to experience Broome and the Shinju Matsuri festival.

Office Closure

Given the significance of this milestone event, we’re heading up to experience the ‘Golden Jubilee’ for ourselves. Not only does it allow us to gain a stronger grasp of the scale and community reach of the festival but it allows us to develop insights that we will help drive our creative executions for future festivals. It’s a tough job, but someones got to do it. 😉

We will be temporarily closing our doors from Monday 24 August through to 14 September. During this time we will be fine-tuning some projects that we have in progress however we won’t be starting any large new projects or low-priority jobs during this period.

While we get some down-time to adjust to what has been an unprecedented few months, we look forward to coming back refreshed and ready to finish 2020 with a ‘creative bang’.

We thank you for your understanding, and look forward to seeing you in Broome!
